Start Up Stories
These are storylines that start from this present moment and move forward in time. They can be based in real time experience of this moment or they can be fantasy or mixtures of both. The simplest way to get going is to do the Great Turning exercise that we mentioned before.
To do this you imagine yourself maybe 100 years in the future. The world and our human society have recovered their environmental balance and mankind is living in harmony with itself, its fellow species and the rest of Nature. Obviously, if we look around at our present day society we are not heading in that direction now. So we ask ourselves what was it that happened that caused our species to wake up from its dream of separation and change its ways to respecting each other and Nature and living in harmony.
The ideas and images that present themselves to you are the start of your storylines. Depending on how you want to go about things you can either simply contribute ideas and images or you can become a Live Earth Storyteller and spin these images into a storyline with characters much as Rumplestiltskin spun the straw into gold. Both are really welcome. Perhaps when you read someone else’s storyline ideas and images may occur that could be useful to that storyline so it is always valuable to send in anything that arises. Similarly when other people read your storyline they may want to send in ideas and images for you.
As in all creative work when we start things are basic and this is natural. Things start off with a rough shape and emerge and grow as we subsequently refine and polish them. Please send things in any shape or form. There is no need to be precious or perfectionist simply let the stories work their way through. They are all there waiting for us to download from the creative ether!
The main thing is to enjoy yourself! Inside your heart is a wellspring of emotion and feeling, which if you allow it to flow into these channels will provide the energy to fuel your stories. Your mind will wrap cloths of many colours around your inspirations creating fabulous threads and storylines. Just have a go and trust in the process and see what arises. Whatever you come up with will be most welcome, whether it is simple, intricate, wild, tender, fierce or beautiful.
Remember as well that the stories can be on any level. They can be personal stories of one character, stories about a family or community or over stories of an area or country, they can also be global. Think of Russian Dolls and how they fit inside each other and you will understand how the stories can all fit together.
